Is this a question of which is
better to implement in your company?
The program that you must adopt should be appropriate
for a particular company set-up.
In my opinion, these lean manufacturing tools still came
from the good old PDCA (or PDSA to be more specific)
They only come in different packages, but the content is
still the PDSA |

sorry i have edited my question a
while back and took so much of it. shewharts knowldedge
wheel is still a common approch but PDCA is not designed
for longterm due to changing customer requirements.
I am a deming fun though so I try to implement his
strategies in-plant.
My question was comparing lean and six sigma but I got
the answer during our asq conference. Lean works better
wth six sigma since lean is improving flow and six sigma
is elliminating waste in the flow.

Hi Mike,
That's a good sharing. Thanks. It's a good thing that
we've not forgotten Dr. Deming.
Have you read the article from Arthur Schneiderman about
six sigma? Check out his website. There's a lot of good
stuff.
Merry Christmas |

Thanks, check pyzdek's six sigma
as well. Right now the six sigma trend is moving towards
combining behavorial science and engineering. So I would
suggest hiring pyschology graduates and teaching them
statistics, tqm, leadership and engineering.
Merry Christmas, more beers to come.

Hi! everyone,
It's only now that I found time to join this forum.
I don't understand why people compare Six Sigma vs. TQM.
Basically they are one and the same thing: expanded PDCA,
DMAIC, 7-steps, 9steps, SPC etc. Bottom line is
Continuous Improvement or KAIZEN. It is only the manner
of Implementation that may differ from company to
company, from culture to culture etc.
When there is a commitment for Continuous Improvent just
follow Deming's 14 point and we'll get there.
Cheers!
